21st Century Education & the Arts

Stanford School of Education | Spring 2012

How might we make informed arguments for the arts in education?  Students investigated the role of the arts in 21st century education through readings and discussions and alongside practitioners and researchers in the field.  For their final projects, students created works that acted as arguments for the arts in education – for publication, broadcast, performance, or exhibit – including a public art piece, educational materials to accompany a science-as-dance performance, and documentary videos.  I designed the curriculum and taught this course with Amber Levinson.
